Southwest Public Schools is dedicated to student success and to support that mission, the Child Nutrition Program’s (CNP) goal is to improve the health and well-being of children by serving attractive, nutritious meals at all campuses. Our mission is to provide outstanding menu choices and promote nutrition education among our students, families, and staff.
Southwest Public Schools is proud to provide students with meals that meet the requirements set forth by the Texas Department of Agriculture and the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. We adhere to the strictest guidelines of these programs to safeguard the health and well-being of our students.
The CNP’s Breakfast and Lunch programs are financially supported through federal funding and commodity foods by the United States Department of Agriculture as well as funds received from students and staff for meals.
2022-2023 Student School Meals
Parents,
On the last day of the 2021-2022 school year, the USDA waiver that extended free breakfast and lunch to all students expired at Southwest Public Schools and other districts. However, Southwest Public Schools are eligible to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for this school year. The CEP is a federally funded program that allows our schools to offer meals to all students at no cost regardless of their eligibility status.
Southwest Public Schools wants to continue to provide necessary learning supports for our students. We would greatly appreciate your assistance in our efforts to collect the socioeconomic status of each of our students. This information is used as a performance indicator for student achievement and for use in disbursement of multiple federal education funding programs. It is important that families complete this socioeconomic form to assist in the collection of this data. We would like to assure you that this information is not shared with outside agencies. For more information, please contact your student’s campus.
